NuCoMBo is a Homeland Security and Health Physics surveying robot capable of autonomously monitoring indoor floor spaces for contamination and automatically generating contamination maps of facilities. Integrating NUVIATech Instruments robust plastic scintillator contamination monitoring technology with 2D LIDAR and simultaneous localisation and mapping algorithms, NuCoMBo combines positional information with contamination measurement, reported in real-time to the operator. Through robotic control, NuCoMBo ensures the detector is kept at a steady height from the surface and moves at a fixed speed, automatically recording measurements every 1 second.
